I always have an obsession with millet and I love to try all south Indian recipes with it. I have tried idli/dosa, puttu, idiyappam( string hoppers), khichadi, etc with many millets. Although I love sweet Pongal, kara Pongal is family favorite and all love to have it hot. So I see that I make it during weekends to all to relish it hot.

Idli/ dosa is one staple breakfast is most south Indian homes. I would always keep a batter of it standby in my refrigerator. If I make white rice batter next time I would opt to grind millet batter. You can check many varieties of idli/dosa recipes in my blog. Check the side menu which has a few lists of it. To add to that collection here comes another variety using the whole black variety urad dal. Since the dal is ground wholly the batter will look little greyish. But there is no compromise in taste. You will never feel any different. The whole black dal is very healthy.

Tempered Tapioca | Kappa Thalichathu



I love tapioca/kappa very much.Whatever the form I can have it all day for three meals.Back in my native, we get a very good variety which has a different taste that of those we get here in Chennai.Some years back when we went to Kerala for a short trip we got some stem from my hubby's friend house and I planted it in sac on our terrace which yielded some amount of kappa.This December also I got some stem and have planted it.Good thing is that it has sprouted and new leaves have started shooting up.Will post pictures later.
