When it comes to millets I love to try any of it and you can check my blog which have some decent amount of millet recipes.Kambu /Pearl millet, though I have used it before but did not try making idli with it.So tried and hence blogging about it here.
The idli was super soft and tasty.My kids didn't complain about any difference in taste and I was super happy as I have fed my family a healthy breakfast.
Soaking time: 2-3 hours
Fermentation time 6-8 hours or overnight
Cooking time 10 mins for steaming

Ingredients
- Pearl millet/Kambu- 1 cup
- Idli rice-1 cup
- Urad dal-3\4 cup
- Methi seeds-1\8 tsp
- Salt to taste
Method:

1.Clean rice and millet and soak in water.Soak urad dal and methi seeds together
2.First grind dal mix to a fine paste with some water.Transfer it to a big container.
3.Then grind rice-millet mix finely.Transfer it to the same container.
4.Add salt and mix the batter well.Leave it overnight for fermentation.
5.Next morning mix the batter well, pour into idli plates and steam it.
6.When done remove from plate and serve hot with your favourite chutney, sambar.
