Love payasam in any way as i love to eat if after lunch .This one i made for my son's birthday. If ur a sweet lover like me wandering to drink some kheer after ur heavy lunch try this easy payasam with sago.
Ingredients:
- sago/Javarisi- 1\2 cup
- jaggery- 1\2 cup
- milk- 1 cup
- Water- to cook sago
- Cashew- few
- ghee- to fry cashew
- Cardamon powder- 1\4 tsp
Method:
1.Wash and cook sago with 3\4 to 1 cup water, the cooking time is quick for nylon (small)variety and soaking needed for big variety.
2.Alternatively boil milk and keep ready.when the sago is cooked add jaggery and cardamom powder to it and mix well.Let it cool for a while.
3.When both milk and cooked sago as cooled little add milk into the sago mixture and give a quick stir.
4,Fry cashew in ghee and add to it.
Yummy and easy payasam is ready.
1.For bigger variety soak in water for 1\2-1 hr for easy cooking.
2.You can dry roast nylon variety before cooking,i didnot do it.
3.The payasam becomes thick as cooling.Add boiled cooled milk to it to get the correct consistency.
4.Instead or jaggery u can use white sugar too.
5.As my jaggery's colour was light my payasam was light in colour.
6.If u prefer more sweetness increase the jaggery amount.
