Hope everyone must have celebrated onam,as we are from nagercoil we celebrated in a small way with few dishes and flower kollam.Kids had great time decorating kollam with flower and lighting lamps specially my daughter is more interested in these thing.Coming to the recipe ,for onam sadya i made this and it tasted awesome, try this atleast once and i am sure you will love it.
Ingredients:
- papaya pieces-1\2 cup
- Grated jaggery- 1\3 cup
- Thick coconut milk- 1\3 cup
- Thin coconut milk- 1\2 cup
- Cashew nuts- few
- Cardamon powder- 1\4 tsp
- ghee- to fry cashew
Method:
1.Cook papaya pieces with little water. When cooked mash it well with a masher/ladle.
2.Boil jaggery with some water and filter the impurities.
3.Add thin coconut milk, jaggery syrup and mashed papaya to a kadai and bring to boil.
4.When everything is mixed together add thick coconut milk and keep in flame for just 2-3 mins and switch off.Add cardamon powder and mix.
5.Garnish it with ghee roasted cashew nuts.
Yummy and healthy paysam is ready.
Note:
1.Don't keep the papaysam in heat for long time after u add thick coconut milk,as it will be curdled.
2.As my jaggery colour was light in colour my payasam colour is light. If u use dark colour variety u will get nice dark colour pradhaman.I love that dark colour one.
3.If u wish u may grind the cooked papaya in a mixer and make.
4.cut the outer skin of papaya well if any left, the payasam won't taste sweet,it will be bitter
interesting payasam...
