For idli / dosa we mainly make chutney or sambar or both.As a blogger i want to try all variety of side dish for it so came up with easy and yummy one from kumbakonam.Its not spicy so it very apt for young kids too.This can also be used for poori/puri.
Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time:under 30 mins
Ingredients:
- Moong dal-1\3 cup
- Potato -2 medium sided
- onion big-1,thinely sliced
- green chillly-2 r 3
- salt to taste
- coriander leaves
- lemon juice
- grated coconut-1\3 cup
- fennel seeds-1\2 tsp
- garlic flakes-1 r 2
- green chilly-1
- Oil-1 tbsp
- bay leaf-1
- cinnamon-1 stick
Method:
1.Pressure cook dal,cool and mass it.Cook potato well,cool,peel the skin and smash well.
Grind the ingredients under " to grind to fine paste".
2.Heat oil in a pan temper with the ingredients given.Then add onion and silted green chilly and saute till onion becomes translucent.Then add cooked dal and potato.mix well.
3.Then add in ground paste little water and salt.cook till everything blends well.add coriander leaves mix ,squeeze lemon juice and serve hot for idli or dosa.
