This is a recipe which i send for EzcookBook 's Cook and Win contest.I made this for one evening after school snack,left with some dough mixed more oats and made Adai/Oats-Lentils crepes for dinner.
Preparation time: under 30mins
Soaking time:2 to 3 hrs
Cooking time:under 30mins
Ingredients:
- Oats-1 cup( i used Quaker oats)
- Channa dal/Bengal gram-1\2 cup
- Toor dal-1\2 cup
- Green chilly-2( see note)
- Fennel seeds-1 tsp
- ginger- 1 inch piece
- Salt to taste
- Baking soda-1\4 tsp(optional)
- Oil-as needed
Method:
1.Clean and soak both dals for 2-3 hrs.Drain the water ,transfer it to a blender along with
oats,green chilly,fennel seeds and ginger.
2.Grind it into a coarse paste with a very little water,transfer to bowl.Add salt and baking soda if adding and mix well.
3.Heat the paniyaram pan.Drizzle some oil in each hole.Pour a small laddle of the batter in each hole.
4.When cooked on one side flip and cook on the other side till it becomes light golden colour.
Serve hot with ur favourite chutney or ketchup.
Variation:
If left with some batter,add chopped onion and make crepes.
Note:
1.you can used red chilly also,if using soak it along with dal and grind.
2.No need to soak oats,just add while grinding.
