Idli Podi

Idli podi

I hope in almost in all houses they have this idli podi, its one of the best accomplishment with idli or dosa when u feel lazy to make chutney. Each one have their version, here is mine.My daughter use to simply take this podi mix with oil or ghee and eat.

Needed:

  • Urad dal-1\2 cup
  • Channa dal/Kadalai paruppu-1\2 cup
  • Ground nut-1\4 cup
  • Red chillies-5 to 7(to ur spice level)
  • Garlic cloves- 18
  • Curry leaves-a hand ful
  • Asafoetida Powder(hing)-1 tsp
  • Salt 1 to 2 tsp

Method:

1.Expect hing and salt dry roast all the ingredients until a nice aroma comes,be careful not to  get burnt.

2.Cool and powder into fine.

3.Dry roast salt and hing powder.

4.Mix this with the powdered podi and store in air tight container.

Serve with idli/dosa.

Note:

1.I dry roast salt and hing ,because the podi will stay fresh for long time.
2.Add salt and chillies according to ur taste buds.
