Many likes briyani as it can be served as a whole meal without curry for it.Any raitha and with or without salad would make a good combo.I make once a while inSundaysndays.This is quite easy to make ,try it and let me know.
Ingredients:
- Basmathi rice- 1 1\2 cup
- Chicken- 1\2 kg
- Onion-3 medium
- Tomatoes-2 r 3
- ginger garlic paste- 2 tsp
- Garam masala- 2 tsp
- Red chilli- 1 tsp(Acc. to ur spice level)
- Green chillies-2
- Ghee& oil- 2 tbsp
- Mint & coriander-hand full
- Bay leaf,cloves,Cinnamon,elachi- 1 each.
- Curd- 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Cashew&raisins to garnish
Method:
1.Clean and soak basmathi rice for 20mins.
2.Clean chicken well.cut onion,tomato and slit g,chilli ,keep ready.
3.In a thick bottomed vessel or in cooker add ghee & oil,then add bay leaf,clove,Cinnamon,elachi to it saute.
4.Then add onions & g.chillies.saute for a while,add ginger garlic paste saute till raw smell goes,then add cleaned chicken pieces to it and saute for 5-7 mins.
5.Then add tomato,red chilli powder,garam masala &saute.Then add chopped mint,coriander leaves to it.By this time ur chicken must have ooze out water.Add salt& cook for 5 min.
6.Then add 2 1\2 cup water and close the vessel with lid(if using cooker also don't put ur cooker lid use ordinary lid).
7.In about 5 -10 min the water will boil,slow the flame add drained basmathi rice to it and close.Keep in slow flame.
8.In about 10-20 min the rice must have 3\4 cooked,now keep a dosa tawa on stove and above that tawa place ur vessels and close.
9.Check once for a while whether it is done.Mostly within 10min it will be done.
10.Garnish with ghee roasted cashew & raisins.
Serve hot with any raitha or salad.
Note:
1.After the rice is 3\4th cooked only we have to keep it over a tawa.
2.If using cooker add water and rice.Cook it for 3-5 whistle or till done.
