Today's recipe is an easy and simple mango recipe with dal,While surfing i found this is an main dish in andhra.Tried it ,loved the tangy taste of mango with the dal.
preparation time: under 5 mins
cooking time: 15 mins
serves-2 to 3
Ingredients:
- Raw mango-1
- Toor dal-1\3 cup
- onion-1 meduim sized
- Garlic flakes-5
- turmeric powder-1\4 tsp
- Red chilly powder-1\2 to 1 tsp
- salt- to taste
To temper:
- ghee/oil-1 tsp
- mustard-1\2 tsp
- hing-1\4 tsp
- jeera seeds-1\2 tsp
- red chilly -1
- curry leaves-few
Method:
1.Clean dal well and pressure cook it with garlic,onion ,water and turmeric powder for 3 whistle or till done.After the steam is released open and mash it.
2.Mean while clean ,peel and chop the raw mango into pieces.Add this to the cooked dal along with red chilly powder and cook for a whistle.
3.Add in salt and mix well.Temper it with the ingredients under " to temper" and serve with hot steamed rice with a tbsp of ghee.
Note:
1.After adding mango u can just cook it in open too for fast cooking i pressure cooked it.
