Omapodi is a savoury snack prepared during Diwali or any festive occasions.Being a blogger i want to try this.My daughter asked it to make Bhel puri so i prepared this for her.My son too loves this omapodi very much.Try this easy savoury snack for Diwali.
Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 15mins
Recipe type: Snacks
Recipe Cuisine: Indian
Author: Babitha Ingredients:
- Kadalai maavuu/Besan flour-1 cup
- Rice flour-1\4 cup
- Ajwain/omam/ carom seeds-3\4 tsp
- Butter/oil-2 tbsp
- salt to taste
- oil to fry
- water as needed
- curry leaves-few
Method:
1.Sieve both flour for even mixing.Soak omam in little water and grind it.(normally it won't ground to fine ,its ok if it is in coarse form).Filter it and keep the omam water ready.
2.In a bowl add flour mix with salt ,butter and omam water and mix. Then slowly add water and make a sticky dough. This is the correct consistency.
3.Use your small holed sev presser/maker to do this.Fill the presser with the sticky dough and press it over the hot oil.
4.Flip over and cook on the other side when done drain the excess oil in kitchen tissue.
5.Fry some curry leaves and add to it.When cooled break it and store.
Note:
1.If u have ajwain powder u can just add it no need to grind it.But don't add more as it may cause bitterness.
2.When doing in large batches cover the dough as it may dry out and it will be difficult to press it.
