I love to bake breads and i just a beginner in baking but love to try new ones.My daughter loves savoury food more and i made this for her.Does its funny to say buns? i made in that shape but after raising it all joined together and i got like this ,i must have kept in a big baking pan, will do next time its all trial & error.Lets go the recipe.
Ingredients:
- Flour- 2 cups +for kneading
- Dry Yeast- 1 tsp
- Warm water-3\4 cup
- Sugar- 1 tsp
- Salt-1\2 tsp
- Olive oil-2-3 tbsp
- Milk-to brush on top
- white sesame seeds -to sprinkle on top
For filling:
- Oil- 2 tsp
- fennel seeds-1\4 tsp
- Onion thinly sliced- 1 full
- Green chilly-1 chopped
- Ginger garlic paste- 1\2 tsp
- boiled potato-1 (mashed well)
- Tomato-1 small
- Chat masala/garam masala- 1\4 tsp
- turmeric powder- 1\4 tsp
- Salt to taste
- corinader leaves
Method:
1.In a warm water add yeast and sugar ,mix and wait for it to proof up.(if it does not forth up discard the yeast and use fresh one).
2.In a mixing bowl add flour,salt,oil and the proofed yeast mix to from a dough.it will be little sticky.Add some oil and cover it to raise.
3.Meanwhile we shall me the filling.Heat oil in a pan,temper fennel seeds followed by onion,green chilly and ginger garlic paste and saute.Then add tomato and saute a while,then boiled mashed potato and all powders with salt .cook till everything blends together.Switch off and add chopped coriander leaves.
4.In about 1\3-45 mins the dough must have raised punch out and knead.make small lemon sized balls of it.
5.Take a ball dough roll to a small circle fill some potato filling and close it.Do the same for all the dough balls.
6.Arrange then on a greased baking pan ,cover and allow it to raise again.
7.When it is raised again ,brush milk on top and sprinkle some sesame seeds and bake it in a pre-heated oven fro 20-25 mins at 180deg C till a golden crust from on top.
8.Cool it completely and serve.
Note:
1.The filling is your choice.
2.The water should not be too hot nor cool,it should be warm for the yeast to proof.If using instant yeast u need not proof it.
