Aval /Rice flakes itself a healthy super good food that can be had as a snack or as breakfast. Here I have used a thick variety of red rice flakes which is even more nutritious than white flakes. This method does not require any cooking of it and can be done in no time which is the best option for after school snacks. But if you doubt the quality of the jaggery make syrup and add to it. I have made that method in the video.
Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time: 5 mins
Recipe type: snack
Recipe Cuisine: South Indian

Author: Babitha
Ingredients:
- Red rice flakes-1 cup
- powdered jaggery-1\2 cup ( adjust)
- grated coconut-1\3 cup
- hot water-3\4 cup
Method:
1.Boil water till it roll boils. Then switch off.
2 .In a bowl add aval/rice flakes.Pour the roll boiled hot water in it and close with a lid.
3.In about 5-8 minutes the water will all be absorbed by the rice flakes and it will be soft.
4.Add powdered jaggery,coconut and mix.
Serve as snack or for breakfast.
Notes:
1.Use good quality jaggery.
2.If you feel the jaggery has more impurity then make jaggery syrup ,filter. Then again boil the syrup till it reaches soft boil consistency.switch off.Add the soaked aval to it & mix.
3.You can also use white, thin variety. In that case reduce water amount to 1\2 cup
4.Instead of jaggery you can also use sugar.
I love this as a snack or dinner.Very quick and filling.
