Kollu Chutney | Horse gram Chutney | Side Dish for Idli / Dosa

Hope you all had a great Diwali and wishes that the happiness last longer in your life.After having much sweets lets now move to some healthy and weight reduction recipes.Horse gram /Kollu is consider a good food for it.So here I come with chutney for idli/dosa with it.


Ingredients:

  • Kollu/Horse gram-1\4 cup
  • Red chilly-2 or 3 (adjust)
  • Coconut pieces-2 tbsp
  • Ginger- 1 inch piece
  • Tamarind-small gooseberry size
  • Onion-1 small
  • jeera-1\2 tsp
  • salt taste

 To temper:

  • oil-2 tsp
  • mustard- a tsp
  • Curry leaves-few





 Method:

1.Dry roast the kollu first till a nice aroma comes then transfer it to a plate.Then in the same pan add coconut pieces,jeera and red chilly and roast for some time.Lastly add tamarind give a mix and transfer.Add chopped onion ,dry roast for a while and switch off.

2.Cool everything and grind to a fine paste with needed salt ,ginger and some water.


3.Transfer it to  a serving dish and temper with the ingredients given.

Serve for hot idli or dosa.



Note:

1.You can add garlic if you wish.

2.You can even avoid onion and make this chutney.

3.Can roast a tsp of channa dal/kadalai paruppu and grind along with it.
