Seriously i don't like this pavakai i don't even buy this vegetable often. But last week i just bought quarter kg of it thought to make fry with it.Then while going through blogs i decided to try this chettinad style kuzhambu from here.

Ingredients:
- Bitter melon/pavakai-2
- Shallot/small onions-10
- oil-2 tbsp
- mustard-1\2 tsp
- jeera-1\2 tsp
- tomato-1,chopped well
- Sambar powder-3 tbsp
- Fennel powder-1\2 tsp
- Jaggery-a small piece
- Tamarind-small berry size
- Garlic-pods-5 ,chopped.
- curry leaves
- salt to taste
Method:
1.Clean and chop the bitter melon in to pieces.Soak it in water with salt for some time.This will reduce its bitterness.soak tamarind in water and extract juice.
2.Heat oil in a pan,pop out mustard followed by jeera.Then add chopped garlic ,curry leaves and small onions.Saute for a while.
3.Then add tomato and pavakai,saute till tomato becomes mushy.
4.then add in all dry powders along with salt.Add tamarind juice and cook for while.
5.lastly add the jaggery piece and switch off when oil seperates .
Serve for hot rice with any kootu and papad.
