Cucumber Kuzhambu/Gravy | Gravy for Rice

Cucumber Kuzhambu

 
 
Summer has started in Chennai and don't know how severe it will in the month of May,we get lots of watery vegetables and fruits during this season and we have to eat it to avoid dehydration,i advice avoid eating more spicy during this season.Coming to the recipe i have made it with cucumber you can use any watery vegetables like white pumpkin,even lady's finger,etc & its quite easy to make.My daughter like this gravy the most.Try it.
 
 


Ingredients:
 
P.Time-10 min,serves-2
 
  • Cucumber-1
  • Grated coconut- 3 r 4 tbsp
  • Green chillies-2
  • Jeera/Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder- 1\2 tsp
  • Onion- 1 medium
  • tomato-1 medium
  • Oil- 1 tsp
  • Mustard
  • curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
 
 


 Method:

1.Peel the skin of cucumber,remove the seeds and cut in to cubes.Cut onion & tomato,keep  ready.

2.Grind coconut with green chillies,turmeric powder,jeera/cumin to a fine paste.

3.Heat oil in a kadai,pop out mustard followed by onion ,saute for some time then tomato,curry leaves saute again,add cucumber pieces and saute for a while.

4.Then add the ground paste ,salt and water as needed and bring to boil.

5.When it thicken switch off and serve with steamed rice.

Any spicy side dish will be a great combo.



Note:

1.You may add red chilly but green chilly alone will be suitable.

2.You can add 1 or 2 garlic pods while sauting for a good aroma.
