For a long time i was trying to make this pickle at last i made it,as i made it was lying on my draft for more than 3 months,now the time has come to post it.I love to eat dates but my kids hate it don't know when they are going to realise the benefit of it.Coming to the dates pickle it goes well with briyani.I got the recipe from here,altered little.
Ingredients:
- Dates- 200gms
- Green chillies-3
- Ginger-2 tsp minced
- Garlic pods- 4 chopped
- Red chilli powder-5 tsp(acc. to ur spice level)
- Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
- Fenugreek powder-1\2 tsp
- Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
- Oil- 2 tbsp
- salt to taste
- white vinegar- 1\2 cup
- hing powder- 1 tsp
- curry powder- 2 spring
Method:
1.Deseed dates and cut into small pieces.
2.Heat oil in a pan,lightly saute the dates and keep aside.
3.In the same pan add green chillies,ginger,garlic & curry leaves and keep aside.
4.Then to the same oil(if need add little more) pop out mustard followed by all powders and saute in low flame.
5.Then add fried dates,ginger,garlic,chillies,curry leaves to it and mix well.
6.Add salt and white vinegar and bring to boil.
7.When lightly thicken switch off and cool completely.
8.Store in clean dry bottle.
Note:
1.For the shelf like don't add any water.
2.You can use gingelly oil too,i used ordinary oil only.
