Upma Recipe | Rava/Sooji Upma | Quick breakfast


"Upma " is one among the most disliked breakfast among youngsters and the same adds for me too..When my mum use to make it i never like it,but things changed now.After marriage i started liking it . Upma will taste good if  eating with coconut chutney and  equally taste good with sugar too .This is quickest recipe to make on busy morning days or when alone.

Ingredients:


  • Rava/sooji- 1 cup
  • Water - 2 cups
  • Onion-1 big (thinly sliced)
  • Green chilly-2 chopped
  • Ginger- small piece (minced)
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil- 2 tsp
  • Mustard- 1\2 tsp
  • channa dal/kadalai paruppu- 1\2 tsp
  • Cashew nut- few
  • Curry leaves
  • Grated coconut- 2 tbsp(optional)





Method:

1.Dry roast  rava in a pan till a nice aroma comes,then keep aside.

2.Heat oil in a wok/pan,pop out mustard,followed by channa dal,cashew nut and curry leaves.when dal turns light brown add chopped onion,green chilly and ginger ,saute for a while.

3.then add water and salt , bring the water to boil.Then add the roasted rava/sooji  with continuous stirring to avoid lumps.

4.Cover and cook in simmer for few minutes.

5.In 3-4 minutes it will be done.open it and add grated coconut(if adding) and serve.
