Bitter gourd/Pavakkai gravy/Kuzlambu


Bitter gourd is not liked by most of us,even i too don't like it before but my hubby like it and whenever he use to come for vacation he will buy this.But i too started liking it specially this gravy.


Preparation time-15 min. Serves-4

Ingredients:

1.Bitter gourd/pavakkai- 200 gms
2.Onion- 1 big
3.Garlic cloves-6
4.Tomato-1
5.Tamarind - 1 lemon size
6.Red chilli powder-1.1\2 tsp (r acc. to ur spice level)
7.Coriander pwder-2 tsp
8.Turmeric powder-1\2 tsp
9.salt to taste
10.Jaggery-little
11.oil
12.Mustard -to temper
13.curry leaves-1 spring
14.Rice flour-1 tsp


Method:

1.Soak tamarind in water and take juice.Cut onion & tomatoes.

2.Cut bitter gourd,deseed it and fry plain in oil .This is to slightly remove the bitterness.

3.Heat oil in a kadai,add mustard when splutters throw onion,garlic pods,tomato,curry leaves one by one and saute well.

4.Then add all powders,tamarind juice,salt and bring to boil.

5.When just starts to boil,add fried bitter gourd and little jaggery to it.

6.Mix rice flour in some water and add to it.

7.When the gravy starts to thick remove from flame ,serve with hot rice.


Note:

Don't add more jaggery,its taste mustnot dominate.
