Homemade milk is healthy, preservative and additive free. This milk can be consumed by people who opt for vegan milk or can be used to make tofu.
Earlier I have failed two attempts at making this milk in which I used more amount of beans which I realized now.In this method, I just used 2 tbsp of soaked beans and got a glass of milk.Let me share how I made this milk where I got some idea from here.
Preparation time: 10 mins
Soaking time 12 hours
Cooking time: 20 mins
Makes: 200 ml
Ingredients:
- Dried soybeans-1\4 cup
- Water- 2 cups
Method:
1.Soak soybeans well in water for 12 hours.
2.Discard the water and rinse it well.On crushing you can easily remove the skin of it.remove it and rinse well in the water again.
3.Add 2 tbsp in a blender/ mixer along with 2 cups of water and blend it well.
4.Strain the mix through a sieve lined with muslin cloth.Squeeze the milk and discard the residue.( you can use it as manure for plants).
5.Heat the collected milk in low flame for 20 mins with continuous stirring.Switch off and use.
6.If storing cool and can be stored for 4 days in the refrigerator.
Note:
1.You may see more beans in my soaked container, but I just used 2 tbsp to make this milk. The remaining I used for making dosa batter.
Oh wow, that's a lovely recipe... have tried soya milk from the shelve but never liked the taste, I am sure home made would taste way better...
