Mughali Chicken Curry | Shahi Chicken Recipe

Mughali chicken

After coming to this blogging world I have learnt a lot of new recipes.Every time I wish for a new  recipe to experiment  this blogsphere has in it.When coming to chicken i have learnt a quite a few and this one is one such.Sunday mostly meat in our house I love trying new recipes.Last Sunday tried this very rich chicken for lunch which was awesome.Due to the richness of cashew and poppy seeds it may be called so, its my wild guess.




Ingredients:

To marinate chicken:

  • Chicken-1\2 kg
  • Ginger garlic paste-1\2 tsp
  • turmeric powder-1\2 tsp
Other ingredients:

  • Oil-1 tbsp
  • Whole spices-cardamon,cloves,cinnamon,bay leaf,star anise-each 2 pieces
  • Shahi jeera-1\2 tsp
  • Onion-2,chopped finely
  • Onion-1 ,ground to coarse
  • Ginger garlic paste-1\2 tsp
  • Red chilly powder-1 tsp
  • Coriander powder-1 tsp
  • Garam masala-1 tsp
  • Pepper powder-1\2 tsp
  • amchur powder-1\2 tsp
  • curd/yogurt-2 tsp
  • fresh cream-1 tbsp ( i used low fat amul cream)
  • Salt to taste

To grind:
  • Cashew-8
  • poppy seeds-1\2 tsp


Method:

1.Clean the chicken well and marinate with the ingredients given.Soak cashew in water for some time,drain and grind to fine paste with poppy seed and some water.Grind a onion to coarse paste.

2.Heat oil in a pan add in all whole spices and shahi jeera ,saute till nice aroma comes.Then add in chopped onion first ,saute while then add ground onion,saute till it becomes translucent.



3.Then add gg paste followed by marinated chicken and saute till it becomes white colour.Add in curd and mix well.Followed by all spice powder except garam masala.Cook for a while.

4.Then add the ground paste and check for salt and spice.Cook till it blends well.

5.Lastly add fresh cream and garam masala.Cover and keep for the flavours to indulge in.



Serve for rice,roti or appam.



Note:

1.To make it more richer you can fry the chicken pieces in butter and add to it.

  4. i have tried mughlai biryani so man ytimes.. but this is curry which i am loving it.. bookmarking shall make this week inshallah and let you know about the results.. thanks muwahs :D From monu and i dot have amchur powder can i add chat masala ?
