Ajwain leaves also known as Karporavalli in Tamil, Dodapatre in Kannada is a medical herb. The dried version of this leaf is oregano, the seasoning used in Pizza toppings. This leaf is best for cold and cough. One can directly have the leaf raw. During this monsoon season try to include this leaf more in your diet. One such way is this rasam which can be served with hot steaming rice or can have as soup.

Ingredients:
To grind to a coarse paste:
Ajwain leaves-5
Red chilli-1
Garlic pods-8to 10
Pepper- 1 tsp
Jeera-1 tsp
Coriander seeds-1 tbsp
Other ingredient:
Tamarind-small lemon size
Hing powder-1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Salt
Tomato-1
oil-1 tsp
Mustard
red chilli
Method:
1. Soak tamarind in water.
2. Grind all the ingredients under " to grind" into a coarse paste.
3.In a bowl transfer the ground paste. Add cut tomato and squeeze it well.
4. Add tamarind juice, turmeric powder, salt , water and mix well.
5. Keep in flame and wait for it to boil.
6. When it starts to boils switch off.
7. Temper and add to it.
Flavor full rasam is ready. Serve for hot steaming rice.
