Broccoli Pakora | Broccoli Fritters

Sudden change in weather from hot to mildly raining calls for some deep fried snack in the evening.Yes, the  temperature here in Chennai is too good with light showers now and then in days but some sure in nights.Something hot, deep fried  eatable is the best one for the evening snack.
Last week I bought some broccoli to make some lunch box rice recipes for my kids but I didn't so yesterday I decided to make this fritters for their after school snack.I was also left with some more florets for it which I prepared soup and added little in our dinner pasta, which I would share soon.

Making this fritters is same as other fritters only.Always serve any fried hot super hot to enjoy the real taste.I just prepared the batter ,kept ready and just fried when they came home.I served it with tomato ketchup and mint-coriander chutney. My kids preferred it only green chutney but i had it with both.

Preparation time: 10 mins
Cooking time; 15 mins
Serves:2-3

Ingredients:

  • Broccoli florets- 1 & 1\2 cup
  • Besan flour-1 cup
  • rice flour- 1 tbsp
  • red chilly powder-1 tsp
  • hing/asafoetida  powder-1 tsp
  • Baking soda-1\4 tsp
  • salt- to taste
  • oil- to deep fry

Method:

1.Clean broccoli ,cut and  separate the florets. If the florets are  big size make it small.Immerse the florets in warm water for few minutes.

2.In a bowl add besan flour, rice flour, chilly powder, salt, hing powder and baking soda.Add water and make a semi thick batter.

3.Heat oil for frying.Dip each floret in the prepared batter and drop into hot oil.Fry them well. When done drain them into kitchen paper.

Serve hot with ketchup and/or mint chutney.
