I learnt this recipe after marriage only from my MIL. In my in-laws house they use to make aviyal as often and if they have many drumsticks left behind they will make this. Drumstick is highly valued vegetable mainly for its antibacterial, medicinal and cleansing properties. Almost each and every part of the drumstick tree like roots, bark, fruits, leaves, flowers even the gums are useful to mankind.

- Drumsticks-2
- Grated coconut- 1\2 cup
- Green chilies- 2 or 3
- Jeera/cumin seeds- 1\2 tsp.
- Turmeric powder-1\2 tsp.
- Garlic pods- 2 (optional)
- Salt to taste
To temper:
- Oil
- Mustard
- curry leaves.

1. Clean the drumstick and into pieces,2 inch length.
2.With 3\4 to 1 cup water cook it.
3.Meanwhile grind coconut with green chilly,garlic pods,turmeric powder and jeera to a coarse texture.if needed just sprinkle very little water.
4.When the drumstick is almost cooked add the ground paste to it.Add salt to ur taste and mix well.Let it be in flame for 2-3 mins until the raw smell goes.
5.Then remove from flame and temper it with ingredients under "to temper".
Its will be a best combo with sambar or rasam and hot steamed rice.
Note:
1.If you don't like garlic flavor u can avoid it.I almost try use it all recipes because if its high medicinal values.
