Beetroot Vadai






I hope all like to munch something for tea/coffee in the evening, mostly many prefer fried items.I saw this vadai in The Hindu newspaper and some co-bloggers to have this in their blog.I made this as evening snack yesterday and all were finished in minutes.
It is easy to give kids who hate to eat vegetables.

Ingredients:

  • Toor dal- 1 cup
  • Beetroot-1 medium
  • Ginger- 1 cm length
  • Red chillies- 3-4
  • Fennel seeds- 1 tsp
  • Curry leaf- 1 spring
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to fry.



Method:

1.Soak Toor dal in water for 1 1\2 hrs.

2.Grate the beetroot.

3.Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan,saute the beetroot for sometime& keep it aside.

4.Transfer the soaked dal to the blender,add red chilli ,ginger and grind it to a coarse mix,don't add any water.

5.Transfer the ground mix in to a bowl,add the sauteed beetroot,fennel seeds,salt,Curry leaves and mix well.

6.Heat oil to fry,take small ball of the mix flatten in ur palm and add it to the heated oil.

7.Fry on both sides and drain in the kitchen towel.

Enjoy with coffee/tea.



Note:

If u prefer u can add channa dal also.
