Rainbow Cupcakes | Kids Party Special

When i bought blue food colour  a year back my plan was to make  rainbow cake or cup cake but it never happened. All needs a time for it to happen  and my long awaited plan happened last week when i baked this cup cakes for an evening snack. It was fun to work with colours and kids enjoy mixing it.I adapted this recipe from allrecipes with slight changes in the ingredients.I don't have red food colour hence used strawberry pink also while mixing for purple i made more blue colour then mixed some pink and got a darkest shade of green.Be careful while adding colours.Do try this your kids.
Preparation time: under 30 mins
Baking time:15 -20 mins
Makes: 6 big cupcakes

Ingredients:
  • flour/maida- 1 cup
  • baking powder- 1 tsp
  • oil-3\4 cup
  • eggs-2
  • granulated sugar- 1\2 cup
  • vanilla essence- 1 tsp
  • milk- 2 tbsp
  • food colour-green,blue,yellow,orange and cherry pink( i used these colours only)

Method:

1.Sieve flour with baking powder.Add sugar and oil in to  a mixing bowl ,whisk well till sugar dissolves

2.Add one egg at a time and whisk well.add in essence and mix well.Slowly dump in the flour mix in batches with continuous mixing. If you feel hard to mix add some milk.

3.Divide the mix in to six bowls.
bowl 1: 1\2 tsp of pink ( use red if you have
bowl 2 : 1\2 tsp of orange
bowl 3: 1\2 tsp of yellow
Bowl 4: 1\2 tsp of green
bowl 5: 1\2 tsp of blue
bowl 6: 1\4 tsp of blue & 1\4 tsp of red to get purple ( but i added pink since i don't have red also added more blue).

4.Divide each colour batter in the lined cup cake baking pan. with purple first and red last ( on top).

5.Bake it in a pre heated oven for 15-20 mins at 180 deg C till a tooth pick inserted comes out clean.

Cool a bit and  serve.

Note:

1.Since i don't have red food colour  i used cherry pink, use red colour if you have.

2.While mixing for purple be careful when adding the two colour.

3.If using gel colour using a tooth pick to dip in to gel colour and add it to the batter.mix and add if needed.

4.Baking time changes from oven to oven.

5.Though food colours are not good for health no fault to using it very  rare.
