Happy Onam to all the people to celebrate it. On this special day here I am with a super yummy dessert/payasam, masoor dal payasam. I have another reason to make this dessert, there are two birthdays in a row, today my husband's and a day after tomorrow it is my birthday. So to celebrate it I made this.


Coming to this recipe it is so easy to make. Cook the dal, then add milk, sweetener and cook further. End with ghee fried cashew. Here I used ordinary milk but you can also use coconut milk. Let us see how to make this.

Ingredients:

Masoor dal- 1/4 cup
Milk- 1 cup
Jaggery-1/3 cup
Ghee- 2 tbsp
Cashew nuts
Elachi powder


Method:


1. Dry roast dal in a pan without burning it.


2. Clean it and cook it the dal with water.

3. Add milk.

4. Add cardamon.
5. Then add jaggery to it.

6. Cook till it dissolves well. Dilute further with some milk.

7. Fry cashew in ghee.

8. Add to it,
Tasty payasam is ready.


 Note:

1. You can use coconut milk instead of milk.

2. Can also use ghee fried coconut pieces instead of cashew.
