Mealmaker / Soya chunk Patties | Mini soya granules patties | Vegan Burger Patties

My kids are fond of this soya granule aka soya chunks, Even if I just shallow fry for them there would be a fight between the two of it.At times I make vegan chicken 65/ soya 65 for their lunch box and many times curry with it for roti/ chapathi.
For a day dinner I planned to make the burger and for the patties, I thought to make it with this soya chunks.Since it easily gets soaked no prior planning for making these patties is needed.

Preparation time: 30 mins ( includes soaking time)
cooking time: under 30 mins

Ingredients;

  • Mini meal maker- 100 gms
  • potato- 2
  • oil-2 tsp + 2 tbsp
  • saunf /fennel seeds- 1 tsp
  • onion-1, chopped finely
  • green chilly-1 , chopped
  • ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
  • Red chilly powder- 1\2 tsp
  • coriander powder- 1\2 tsp
  • turmeric powder-1\4 tsp
  • garam masala-1\2 tsp
  • coriander leaves
  • salt- to taste
  • bread crumbs
  • maida /flour- 2 tbsp

Method:

1.Soak meal maker in water for 10-15 mins. Then discard water and add in water, squeeze it.Repeat till the water turns clear. Then boil the granules with water for 5-7 mins. When done a drain and squeeze excess water from it.Add the cooked chunks into a mixer and make a coarse paste.

2.Mean while boil 2 medium-sized potato.Peel and mash it well.

3.Heat 2 tsp oil in a wok / kadai, temper first with saunf, Then add in onion & green chili.Saute until onion becomes translucent. Then add in ginger garlic paste.Saute till raw smell disappear
.

4.Add in mashed potato and coarsely ground soya.Mix well.

5.Add all dry spice powder, salt.Add a tbsp of breadcrumbs and coriander leaves.switch off.Wait for it to cool.

6.Make balls out the prepared mix.( if not able to make balls add breadcrumbs of flour, just for binding).Flatten the balls.

7.Make a thin paste with flour & water.Dip the flattened patties in it and place it a plate with breadcrumbs.Let the crumbs coat well.

8.Shallow fry the patties in the pan.Repeat the same for all balls.

Serve as such or a burger in a bun.

Note:

1.I have used mini soya chunks but can also use the big ones.
