It had been a long time since I made tikka at home. The last one I made was this paneer tikka which was more than a year ago.Last month end was my daughter's birthday and I made it again this tikka but this time I made it on stove top.My son enjoyed it a lot and asked me to make it frequent.Last Sunday I planned to make it to fulfill their wish with chicken. It very easy to make these tikka at home with very few ingredients.
Preparation time: 10 mins
resting time: min 1 hr to maximum overnight.
cooking time: under 30 min
serves: 2-3
Ingredients:
- Chicken breast-1\4 kg
- Bell pepper/capsicum-1
- Onion-2,medium sized
- hung curd-1\4 cup
- Tandoori masala/tikka masala-1 tsp
- ginger garlic paste-1\2 tsp
- turmeric powder-1\2 tsp
- salt to taste
- oil-as needed.
Method:
1.Clean the chicken well.cut in to small square shaped pieces of about 2 cm each.(approx.)Remove the inner portion of bell pepper. Cut it and onion in a shape of cubes.
2.To it add all ingredients except oil and mix well.Let is soak in masala for about an hour.
3.To a bamboo skewer arrange the marinated pieces in the order onion, capsicum, chicken and follow it.Repeat the process till all marinated pieces are arranged in skewers.
4.Heat oil in a flat tawa.Place the arranged skewers in it and roast it till it browns.Flip and roast on all sides.
Serve hot as such or with some sauces/ketchup.
Note:
1.Instead on grilling in stove you can also grill it in oven.In that case grill for 15-20 mins at 180 deg C till it browns on all sides.
2.For veggie version use paneer instead of chicken.
3.Here I have used only green coloured capsicum but you can use all colours
4.If you don't have tikka/tandoori masala then use garam masala but I cannot as sure about .the taste.
