Pumpkin Raitha | Posanikai thayir pachadi | Indian Salad


Raitha is a simple recipe which goes well with any spicy biryani, Indian flat bread or as such.I recently started following a diet plan for weight loss and init comes this which pumpkin which is made as raitha and to be had for lunch.First, i thought how can one have only this for lunch but later after consuming it I felt my tummy fill with out any other dish.Do try this simple recipe which hardly takes 5-8 minutes to make.

Preparation time 10 mins

Ingredients:

  • While pumpkin/ Ash gourd- a big slice
  • Thick yogurt- 1 cup
  • salt- to taste
  • roasted cumin powder-1\4 tsp
  • Red chilly powder- to sprinkle on top
  • chat masala-1\2 tsp

Method:

1.Chop out the outer hard skin and scoop out the seeded area.Grate the remaining flesh part in a grater.Keep it aside for some time as it will oozee out water.

2.Whisk curd with cumin powder,chat masala & salt.Squeeze the grated pumpkin to release out the excess out it any.( use that water to make buttermilk).


3.Add the pumpkin to yogurt and mix well.

Serve immediately with spice powder sprinkled over it.
